Agape House — Where Healing Begins with Love
Agape House

This is what it's really like

Sober Living at Agape Is Not What You Think.

It's not a halfway house. It's not a facility. It's a real home with real people who are done surviving and ready to start living. Here's what that actually looks like.

Let's be real

What Sober Living Actually Is

Sober living is the bridge between treatment and the rest of your life. It's not clinical. Nobody is monitoring your vitals or handing you a pill cup. There's no white coat. No fluorescent lights.

It's a house. A real one. With a kitchen you cook in, a bed that's yours, and housemates who know exactly what 3 AM cravings feel like — because they've fought them too.

At Agape, you'll follow a daily structure. You'll go to work or school. You'll attend meetings. You'll sit in a circle with people who scare you a little with how honest they are. You'll learn to cook, to budget, to show up on time, to ask for help, and to forgive yourself.

“You don't come to sober living because you've figured it out. You come because you're willing to figure it out — and you need people around you who won't let you quit.”

Our certified counselor with 30+ years of experience doesn't sit in an office waiting for you to book an appointment. She's in the house. She knows your name, your story, and whether you had a bad day before you even say it. That's the Agape difference.

Your day, your pace

A Day in Your New Life

Structure without rigidity. Here's what a typical day looks like at Agape — flexible enough to fit your life, consistent enough to keep you grounded.

Morning

Rise at Your Own Pace

No alarm clocks, no rush. Your morning is yours — make your bed, grab breakfast, take a moment to breathe. Recovery doesn't start with pressure. It starts with showing up for yourself, one morning at a time.

By 10:00 AM

Chores & Home Care

Keep your space clean and take pride in where you live. Chores are due by 10 AM — it's a small thing that builds big habits. When everyone pitches in, the house feels like home.

Daytime

Purpose & Personal Time

Go to work, attend your program, hit a meeting, look for a job, or take care of personal business. This is your time to build something. Work schedules are always respected — we structure around your life, not the other way around.

Evening

Wind Down

The day slows down. Cook dinner, hang out in the common areas, call someone you love, or just sit outside under the California sky. This is the part of the day that used to be the hardest — and slowly becomes the most peaceful.

Nightly

Breathalyzer Check-In

Every resident breathalyzes each night. It's not about distrust — it's about building a culture of honesty and accountability. When everyone is committed to the same standard, it makes the house safer for all of us.

10:00 PM

Curfew & Rest

Doors lock at 10 PM. Your body heals when you sleep. Your mind processes the work you did today. Tomorrow you get to do it all again — and it gets a little easier every time.

No sugarcoating

What We Expect From You

We love you unconditionally. But love without structure is just a nice feeling. Here's what living at Agape actually requires.

Complete Sobriety

Zero tolerance. Zero exceptions.

This isn't negotiable. No drugs, no alcohol, no exceptions. We conduct regular, random drug and alcohol testing — not to catch you, but to protect the entire house. Every person here is trusting that the people around them are sober. That trust is sacred.

Show Up

Be present in your own recovery.

Attend every house meeting. Participate in community life. Don't just live here — be here. Recovery happens in the moments you'd rather skip. The meeting you don't want to go to is usually the one you need most.

Stay Engaged

Work. Learn. Grow. Every day.

Whether it's a job, school, outpatient treatment, or volunteering — you need to be building something during the day. Idle time is relapse time. We'll help you find employment, connect with programs, and create a routine that gives your days meaning.

Respect the Home

This is your home. Treat it that way.

Clean up after yourself. Respect quiet hours. Take care of shared spaces like they belong to you — because they do. When everyone takes ownership, the house becomes a place you're proud to come home to.

Honor the Schedule

Curfew is 10 PM — and it's there for you.

Curfew is at 10 PM every night because a good night's rest is part of the healing. We respect work schedules — if your job runs late, we understand. Curfew extensions are available with an approved request. The goal isn't to control your time. It's to give you the kind of steady, predictable routine that makes recovery feel possible.

Support Each Other

Your housemates are not strangers.

Check in on the quiet guy. Celebrate someone's 30 days. Drive a housemate to a meeting. The bonds you build here will outlast your time at Agape — and some of them will save your life.

The questions you're really asking

The Honest Answers

Will it be easy?

No. It will be one of the hardest things you've ever done. But it will also be one of the most worthwhile.

Will I want to leave?

Probably, at least once. Growth is uncomfortable. The version of you that wants to run is the same version that got you here. Stay anyway.

Will I make friends?

You'll make something deeper than friends. You'll find people who understand the version of you that nobody else has seen — and they'll love you anyway.

Will I be bored?

If you're doing it right, you won't have time to be bored. Between work, meetings, house meetings, and building a life — your days will be full.

Will it work?

Sober living works for people who work it. We can give you the structure, the support, and the love. You have to bring the willingness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sober living is structured housing for people in recovery — not a treatment facility. We don't provide medical detox, therapy, or clinical services. Instead, we offer a safe, accountable living environment while you attend outpatient treatment, work, or go to school. Think of us as your stable foundation while you build your new life.

Not necessarily. While many of our residents transition from treatment programs (PHP, IOP, residential), we also welcome individuals who are committed to sobriety and ready for a structured living environment. We'll talk through your situation during our intake conversation.

There's no maximum stay. Some residents stay a few months while they get on their feet; others stay longer. We believe you should stay as long as the structure and community are serving your recovery. We'll never rush you out.

We offer both private and semi-private rooms. We'll work with you to find the best fit based on availability and your preference. All rooms are clean, furnished, and comfortable.

Our rules exist to keep everyone safe: zero tolerance for substance use, regular drug/alcohol testing, curfew, mandatory house meetings, and maintaining daily responsibilities (work, school, or program). These aren't punishments — they're the structure that makes recovery possible.

Sober living is typically a self-pay monthly arrangement and is not covered by health insurance. Contact us at (949) 350-4822 to discuss payment options and availability.

Absolutely — we encourage it. Most of our residents work, attend school, or participate in outpatient treatment during the day. Having purpose and routine is a key part of rebuilding your life.
